Science Quotes by Maurice Nicoll (2 quotes)
I suddenly realized that no one knew anything. … From that moment I began to think for myself or rather knew that I could.
— Maurice Nicoll
In Psychological Commentaries on the Teaching of Gurdjieff (1972), 1741.
It is like the man who became short-sighted and refused to wear glasses, saying there was nothing wrong with him, but that the trouble was that the recent papers were so badly printed.
— Maurice Nicoll
In Psychological Commentaries on the Teaching of Gurdjieff (1972), 98.

In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion.
